2007 New Zealand UNOAKED CHARDONNAY

TASTING NOTES:


Nice Straw. Aromas of rich butterscotch with hints of ripe stone fruit and citrus.
A pleasant, full bodied Chardonnay that shows great length and persistence. Hints of apricots, peaches and pears. Ripe stone fruit and malolactic characters show through well in a style uncluttered by oak.

Food Pairing: Ideally suited with crab cakes, oysters and caser salad or great just on its own!


Cellar: : Three to five years with confidence.



















2007 MARLBOROUGH PINOT NOIR

TASTING NOTES:

Medium depth of color with purple and crimson notes.
An aromatic wine with black cherries, red currants and strawberries on the nose,
complexed with well integrated oak.  Lovely fresh fruit on the palate
with hints of oak. Good firm tannins give the wine length and weight.

Food match: Ideal with aged cheddar, mushroom soup or grilled tuna.
A wine to enjoy all on its own in a bubble bath and some candles.



Cellar: Up to five years.

Chardonnay



A complex wine with citrus and vanilla aromas on the nose.
Good balance on the palate between the fruit and oak with a good length.



Pinotage 2004

A full bodied deep red wine with complex aromas of berries and spices.
This well-balanced wine is matured in French and American Oak.

A dark ruby colour with a purple rim typical of a young pinotage.
Complex flavours with ripe fruit and berries, with a hint of oak, which carries nicely on the palate.

An elegant, well-structured wine: honey bush tea, rose petals, cedarwood and cloves on the nose; mocca chocolate, red berries, stewed fruit and spices on the palate.

ALLÉE BLEUE Isabeau 2005

A white blend, 2/3 Semillon and 1/3 Chardonnay. Hand harvest; 24°B; grapes cooled down; crushed; skin contact 4 hours. Light press. Fermentation in barrels; 23°C; 60% new French oak. In wood 9 months. 10% American oak; 10% Hungarian. Bottled 14 December 2005.

A sophisticated, elegant wine. Perfumes of orange blossoms and lemon butter. Layers of limey citrus and rich, creamy butterscotch unfolds on the palate.

Chardonnay
 
(unoaked) Signatures of Doolhof

Dry, light, refreshing and very approachable. Initially citrus fruit and pear. Undertone of banana. A natural choice with fish, with a delicate taste. As an aperitif - outstanding.


Pinotage



Rich, deep red fruits with dark undertones of smoke and chocolate. Excellent with rich meat dishes and BBQ/Braai. Unique.

This wine immediately calls to mind the Bordeaux region, being predominantly Cabernet and Merlot based, but with new world flavours and nuances; a splendid 2004 vintage containing Cabernet, Shiraz and Merlot. 3½ stars in Platters 2006.

Pinotage 2007



Medium bodied  with a ruby red color. A complex Pinotage with dark fruit and red cherry flavors and hints of oak aromas. A balanced wine with good structure and a smooth finish that could be enjoyed now or age in the bottle for a few years . When chilled will go will go with seafood or light meat dishes. It also goes well with any red meat, pasta and spicy food.


Synergy


Deep dark red color with vibrant undertones of purple. a Good structured wine, well balanced with an intense mouth feel. Complex dark fruit with blackcurrant, cassis and well integrated oak aromas. Fullness which will make this wine last in the bottle for at least 8 years.


Pinotage Brut Rose

A remarkable pale grape-pink color this wine is a proper Blanc de Noir. A rush of foam, tiny bubbles, consistent from the bottom - sustained even as the wine warms up. On the nose it has the faintest whiff of floral Pinotage, undertones of cool strawberry and cinnamon-apple. Taste wise it has a fresh crisp entry, apple-like acidic tang. Fresh fruitiness on the tongue, more not-quite-ripe strawberry, a whiff of cherry with a slight spicy twist at the tail. Light and easy. Beautiful with oysters...



2006 Tre Sorélle

The first vintage of this flagship wine was released in December of 2005 and has been a big hit ever since. A Bordeaux style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, this wine has fruit, oak, floral and spice characters. The structure of this wine shows forward tannins, good acid and a soft, lingering finish.

 2006 Chambourcin

Red currants and berries in the nose with a slightly lush mouthfeel, this lighter styled, inviting red is a great example of the varietal characters of Chambourcin. Drink this chilled or at room temperature to enjoy its lighter tannins in the front palate and the lingering finish. Bring this to your next cookout or have it with a plate of pasta.and these ladies get top billing.

Lighthouse Rouge


A tart sweet blend of Vidal and Chambourcin, both French-American Hybrid grapes.  This combination allows for a balance that goes well with sweet or spicy foods.  Serve shilled as a great picnic wine.


Workboat Red

A sweet red wine with an intriguing balance and refreshing taste. This wine is predominately Chambourcin - fruity and delicate - with a softness and a selection of big reds for greater character. For casual occasions complements any creamy cheeses and light sauces or pour some on vanilla ice cream to create a new sensation also perfect for picnics and meals with simple fare.

Serving temperature: 45º-55º F. temperature of 40º-50º F.





Cabernet Franc




A Bordeaux-style red wine with unique varietal characteristics. A smooth, complex and suitable for extended cellaring ormay enjoyed today. Rich black fruit flavors with a long enjoyable finish. Soft and supple with chocolate and leather notes and fruity with blackberry and currant flavors.  A great accompaniment for stronger flavored foods like grilled meats and beef, grilled salmon with mango salsa and strong flavored cheese.
